The Ganga Aarti is performed by college students of the Upanishads and Vedas, led by the head priest of the Gangotri Seva Samiti. The ceremony takes place each evening, rain or shine, on the banks of the Ganges River in Varanasi. During the summer, the ceremony begins at 6:30 PM post sundown, while in winter, it begins at 7:00 PM. The ceremony lasts for approximately 45 minutes and is attended by a huge crowd.
